The Angelic Trisagion
or Chaplet of the Holy Trinity

Feast: Sunday after Pentecost,
and each Sunday is dedicated to the Holy Trinity

Back to Chaplet index

The centre of this chaplet is the #284a Holy Trinity centre in antique silver. Gilt is also available as #285a.

The Crucifix shown here is #304 in antique silver. There is also the gilt (gold-tone) alternative as #305.

When we celebrate any feast of the Church we honour the Holy Trinity, directly or indirectly: those of Our Lord; of the saints; and of course the feasts of Our Lady who is so closely connected with the Holy Trinity. The great feast of Trinity Sunday is observed the Sunday after Pentecost.

It is fitting that of the many chaplets, one is devoted exclusively to the Blessed Trinity. This little known chaplet is prayed in union with the entire choir of angels and reminds us of the beautiful song of praise of the Heavenly Hosts; the incense of prayer rising before the throne of Almighty God.

Note 1: The bead colour(s) are not mandatory, you can use any colour(s) you wish. The idea behind the colours used here are: Clear or white for the purity of God the Father and the Angels we are praising with; Blue for Jesus; Red for the Holy Ghost.
Note 2: This chaplet and information courtesy of "The Maryfaithful" May-June 1979 issue.
Method of Recitation:
1) On the Trinity Crucifix or medal:
V...Thou, O Lord, wilt open my lips;
R...and my tongue shall proclaim Thy praise.
V...Incline unto my aid, O God;
R...O Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory Be...

2) Single bead:
V...Holy God, holy strong one, holy immortal one;
R...have mercy on us.
Our Father...

3) On each of the nine beads:
V...To Thee be praise, to Thee be glory, to Thee be thanksgiving through endless ages O Blessed Trinity.
R...Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts; the heavens and the earth are full of Thy glory.

4) At the end of the nine beads:
(on the chain)
Glory Be...

5) On the centre medal:
With all our heart and voice, we acknowledge, we praise and we bless Thee, God the Father, unbegotten; Thee, the Only-begotten Son; Thee, the Holy Spirit the Paraclete, O holy and undivided Trinity. To Thee be honour and glory forever.

6) On the Trinity Crucifix or medal:
Let us Pray:
Almighty and everlasting God, who hast given unto us Thy servants grace by the confession of the true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of Thy divine majesty to worship the Unity; we beseech Thee that by our steadfastness in this same faith, we may evermore be defended from all adversities. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Deliver us, save us, vivify us, O Blessed Trinity.
