Yes, every little bit of that wrapping was done by me and by hand!!! The sculpture alone took about 40 hours. There were several more hours to choose the pieces to use and to decide and build the necklace to hold it.
The stones and beads are reconstructed or reassembled Chalcedony with the accents of silver plated beads and Swarovski crystal. All of the wire is tarnish resistant silver plate over copper. The wrap around the upper pear shaped stone is actually a 12 wire braid with tiny silver plated beads included in that as well. Talk about a getting your fingers all tied together :))) All the other wires are either wrapped or spiraled at least once if not twice.
This is a work of art and due to the nature of wire, could not be duplicated no matter how hard I would try. It is the mastermind of another much more talented wire wrapper who so generously produced a tutorial to give others the chance to make such an amazing piece. Her name is D.K. Heath of Studio Heath.
For this piece, the sizes are 3 1/4 inches (8.5 cm) by 2 1/4 inches (5.5 cm) for the sculpture and the necklace which is included measures 20 inches or 50 cm and has a bali silver clasp. While this sounds like a large piece to wear, it certainly can be worn and well. I've made one for myself as well and it isn't as heavy as you might think or bothersome to wear.
